Mural Fest 2024 features artists from all over Utah and from across the country who come together to crate an exciting vibe on the streets and alleyways of South Salt Lake’s Creative Industries Zone.
“Mural Fest is a program we started in 2018 as a way to help revitalize the South Salt Lake downtown,” said Lesly Allen, Director of South Salt Lake Arts Council.
Mural Fest is bringing 14 new murals to South Salt Lake’s fast-growing entertainment district this weekend, with lots of bands to celebrate the new art.
Why it matters: The city has put a lot of emphasis on its “Creative Industries Zone” to draw hip crowds to the breweries, restaurants and galleries nestled between warehouses.
SOUTH SALT LAKE – Public art is popping up around South Salt Lake ahead of a festival this weekend that is drawing attention from artists all over the world. What they’re creating, the city says, is blowing people awa.
We’re less than a week away from this year’s Mural Fest, and each year the open-art gallery goes as new artists are selected to bring unique creations to the area. The 7th Annual Mural Fest will take place Saturday, May 4, and one of the major pieces you’ll get the chance to check out is the new mural going up on South Salt Lake City Hall. We got the chance to speak with the artist in charge of transforming that building.
